This massive table top exists of no less than eight kinds of wood. Dominant in this composition are the two kinds of meranti timber; one kind is marked, soft and red, the other kind is plain, heavy and dark brown. The heavy top is being carried by five solid oak legs.

The outlines of this table top could make you think of a laurel leaf, and in it laurel stock has been used. It can be recognized by the cubes where there is a large contrast between the heart-wood and the splint-wood. The trunks are too thin to be interesting for the wood trade. Therefore it is hardly ever seen in furniture.

The special feature of this table is the use of beech that has already started the proces of deteriorating. The lines of this ‘brewed’ beech give a tension to the composition of the table-top. This natural disorder contrasts with the use of industrial metal in the underframe.

In the composition of this tabletop something of a repetition can be seen. Dark and light kinds of wood have been used. It seems as if the light maplewood is trying to find its way through the darker kinds of wood. The legs are also made of maple and they are connected by means of screwthread
